really liked it

As someone with OCD, I found this book very helpful and insightful, not to mention educational. It does get a little repetitive at times, as in you feel like he's kicking the dead horse, but it is helpful in a sense that you really get a handle on the methods.

Karin Has it helped you with eliminating your ocd obsessions/ compulsions? I have ocd and would like to know if it really works before buying the book.

Lani One thing you must understand with OCD is that it will never go away--there is no cure like there is for strep-throat. It's like bi-polar, a chemical imbalance in your brain, and you have to take steps to lessen it and not let it control you. This book outlines a four step pattern that helps you take control of your OCD and minimize its hold on you over time. The more you give in to your OCD the worse it gets, so this book helps you turn that around. If you find that a book alone doesn't help I would suggest seeing a therapist, which is what I was doing in conjunction with reading this book. I hope this was helpful and good luck!

Karin Yes, i am seeing a therapist. I just read the titles of these ocd books and they talk about curing or overcoming ocd. I wondered if that was actually the case, or if i can expect to take the drugs for the rest of my life. The info i have from this book (from a synopsis on a website that uses his ideas) is that it's a drug-free method. I wondered if this method worked when compared to straight ERP, which to me seems scarier. But i didnt want to try this only to find out it was a pie-in-the-sky kind of idea, that didn't really work in real life. Thanks for taking the time to answer my qu's. Best wishes for you too!
