really liked it
bookshelves: 1001-books, shortstories

One story in, and it feels like I'm reading Italo Calvino.

Finished the book, and it still felt like I was reading Calvino.

The stories in this book are ephemeral and out of the world and otherworldly. They're fantasy and fantastic.

One thing I liked is the recurring themes, which made me wonder what went on in Borges head: Don Quixote is mentioned in a few stories, I think; The One Thousand and One Nights definitely is; as is Martin Fierro, as well as labyrinths. It's crazy.

But the stories are good, even though I kept feeling like I didn't quite *get* them. But even with not quite getting them, they were good stories (although some did leave me saying "What the hell?!?").
