it was amazing
bookshelves: 100-books

Another from my list of 100 books to read before I die. I've not read any Steinbeck before, but I was very impressed. There's a feeling of foreboding present right from the beginning. You know that nothing is going to turn out well, and it feels heavy and uncomfortable in your stomach, but at the same time you just want to keep reading. In a lot of ways, it's quite a simple tale, but it's that feeling that makes it so great.

Tara Calaby I'm very glad I didn't read it in school, because I wouldn't have got anywhere as near as much from it back then!

Tara Calaby Luckily, I didn't do Gatsby until my final year of school, so I was able to appreciate it properly ;) That said, I really need to re-read it some time, because I'm sure I'd find even more to love about it now.

I was very lucky that my father was a history teacher and I was brought up to have a love of history otherwise the first few years of school history would've done me in too ;)
