The appealing part of this book for me is how a big deal is not made of a girl on the baseball team. Sure, there are some boys who make fun and give Molly a hard time, but the story focuses on her relationship with her mother, one of the boys on the team, but mostly the death of her father.

I wish the author had given more details about the death and the wrap up with her mother at the end seemed a bit rushed. The book has a very baseball-based plot so I am not sure it will appeal to a large audience but it really will hit home with girls who play baseball.
