it was amazing
bookshelves: young-adult-literature, historical-fiction, mystery, family-relationships, friendship, prhs-library
Read in January, 2010

I was so curious about a 500+ page Caldecott winner, and was pleased to see the Caldecott committee got it right with this unorthodox choice! The illustrations are awesome, the story is magical, the topic (early movie-making) is fascinating and the concept is just so unique. I thoroughly enjoyed this very quick read and can vouch that even reluctant young male readers will snap up this bulky book from the library shelves. Highly recommended!
