did not like it
bookshelves: mystery

Dan Brown is the master of ratcheting the suspense dial all the way up to 3, then prematurely concluding. The art history blather, whatever -- I can ignore that. But I can't ignore a suspense novel that does not know how to do suspense.

I have no idea why these books are popular, it boggles my mind. And the ending of this book was so flat-out stupid that if you take even a minute to try and untangle the logic for WHY it happened that way, the only solution you'll arrive at is "well, the author needed an ending, and that's why this TOTALLY IMPLAUSIBLE THING happened all those years ago". The history was rejigged incoherently to provide a very flimsy end.

In summary: boo, hiss.
