really liked it
bookshelves: les-enfants, herstory

i am always filled with trepidation whenever i see a picture book biography of one of my heroes. even though i was dubious flipping through, i now love it. the book focuses on Ida's early life and her crusades against lynching. the illustrations are interesting and often interwoven. many of the portrayals of Ida show her in an almost superhero persona, always with great shoes. this is totally my image of her as she was more powerful than Superman could ever hope to be. i am saddened that some of my favorite accomplishments (like single-handedly integrating a suffrage parade) are not portrayed. i cry for a sequel.
