I finished this about a month ago. It's not as quick of a read as I, Claudius, though you would think it would be. I mean Messalina was all sorts of fucked up! That is the most interesting part of his later life, other than the conquering of Britain.

But one has to get through Graves detailing every little bit of the really mundane stuff, like census, who marries who, battles that really aren't that interesting (with the exception of Britain). 70% of this book was quite a bore, so I can't enthusiastically recommend this one as I have the 1st.

However, the few must read sections is the betrayal by Herod and his downfall, the conquering of Britain, and the fall of Messalina.
