Absolutely gripping, and very moving. At times laugh out loud funny. A glimpse into the nature of faith and desire - it's wonderful, ecstatic, dangerous, confusing. Armstrong's description of her inner life is incredibly familiar even as the details of being in a convent are excitingly strange.

I'm looking forward to bringing my experience of this book with me as I read Merton's Seven Storey Mountain, another book about a religious, though written by someone who converted to and then remained Catholic.
