really liked it
bookshelves: halloween, 2009, novel

I really liked this book - loved the buildup and the process. Normally, scary books don't scare me. This one really unsettled me at times.

It didn't get 5 stars out of me because the ending wasn't spectacular. It didn't fall flat, but I expected something more. I felt like all the creepy things were really heading to some more unified explanation - that Eleanor would tie into the house's history, or be a more complete medium for the house's history to make itself known.

Still, like I said - the process was great. I really got some good creepy feelings as things occurred. And it has some great characters - very memorable, very real people, except they say much more witty things than real people. It's a good one for Halloween.

Nancy I like unsettling. I'll have to read this one soon.

Sara You've probably seen it, but just in case. There's a fantastic 1962 adaptation directed by Robert Wise. Avoid the newer version at all costs.

Nancy No, I haven't seen it...going to add it to my Netflix queue.
