** spoiler alert ** In my opinion, the weakest of the Dark Tower series.

In this book, King spends a lot of time arranging his pieces on the board, readying himself and his characters for the final battle, but there isn't much that actually moves forward here. From page one to page 560, Susannah is still separated from the ka-tat, still possessed by Mia, still pregnant with a demon's baby. The group is split, with Eddie and Roland in Maine of the '60s and Father Callahan, Jake and Oy trailing Susannah to NYC in 1999. We learn new information, but none of it gets the ka-tet or the story much closer to the Tower.
