I am about 50-50 on Stirling - I *adore* the Change novels, but have found some of his stuff unreadable. I was a little dubious about the whole premise (alternate history military SF), but, well... I rather enjoyed it. As in most collections of short stories, some are better than others, but the diversity of worlds and situations he manages to imagine were most interesting enough to believe in for a bit.
