I like Wally Lamb, I really do, so complaining about the scope of this book would be silly. But wowza! Columbine, Katrina, abolitionists, Mark Twain... there was even a kitchen sink!
`I guess I didn't realize that Wally Lamb had been a HS teacher so when I was reading the stuff about HS I kept thinking "Wow, how did this guy nail school so well?" Well, it turns out he spent 25 years teaching!
I thought some of the family history stuff dragged on too long and I thought the ending was too sappy. It was a very readable book, though and I enjoyed it.
