How many of us were led to believe that Hitler's troops were pretty much limited to Germany and Poland only later to discover that it was significantly more far-reaching than that? Austria. The Ukraine. Hungary.

This is Piri's story of her family in The Ukraine and Hungary. About the oppression and dearth they endured at the hand of their enemy through no fault of their own. Simply because they were Jewish.

Latrines in the ghetto were out in full view of the guards and others. Since they couldn't go outside from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 a.m, they had to use the latrines during daylight when they could be seen.

Watery soup and stale bread were provided.

Terri Lynn I don't think anyone who has any education at all would be led to believe that Hitler's troops were limited to Germany and Poland. Anyone who has even a middle school or high school education and has studied history would know that Austria and Poland were just the beginning. Hitler took over Hungary, the Ukraine, the Netherlands (where Anne Frank lived), Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Belgium, France and more. I am stunned that anyone didn't know that.

Elaine Your comment "I don't think anyone who has any education at all…" seems to suggest that those who didn't/don't know about Hitler's troops' infiltration into other countries, have no education whatsoever. Is this what you intend to say?
