Not being all that familiar with philosophy of language, I had a bit of a tough time with the middle of this book. It's a must-read, obviously, for the influence it has had, and the beginning and end are great. I am going to assume the middle is too, although I didn't quite catch it all. Performative statements on their own aren't quite as interesting as later applications of Austin's thoughts, however.
