it was amazing
bookshelves: urban-studies

I didn't like "What is the what", so I was hesitant to read this, but with New Orleans and Katrina as subjects, I felt I couldn't pass it up. It was amazing. THe book was a compelling read, and addressed an entirely different perspective on Katrina. I enjoyed an immigrant's perspective on New Orleans, and appreciated how similar the evacuation process and aftermath was for all of us. The most shocking part of the book focuses on the unjust incarceration of innocent citizens as they tried to pick up the pieces after the levies broke. I had no idea about any of this. Most Americans have such faith in the system that we're crushed when something like this happens.
