really liked it
bookshelves: loved-it

Having tried to read Last Night at Chateau Marmont and not liking it, I was surprised to find that I really enjoyed The Devil Wears Prada which is by the same author, Lauren Weisberger. I usually base my enjoyment of a book on how fast I read it, because that means that I was kept so interested that I read it in only a few days and this was the case with TDWP.

Andy is a college graduate trying to get a job with the New Yorker as a writer. She instead lands a job as ultra-fashionable and ultra-mean Miranda Preistly's new junior assistant where she hopes to work a year and then be catapolted into a high-level job in a short time period. As Miranda's assistant she works a sometimes 14-hour days doing everything and anything that Miranda desires. The first couple of months doing Miranda's overbearing bidding Andy tries to tell herself that she can survive it, but as her demands get more and more time consuming Andy begins to question whether or not she's going to completely give up her family, friends, and boyfriend for her career.

I'm hoping for a sequel to this book soon....
