If you need an academic, yet entertaining, book to read, this is the one. Shea goes through some of the more interesting words which he came across during his foray into the world of the OED (Oxford English Dictionary). His descriptions, definitions, and insights are legitimately fun to read. I read this because it was connected to a review of another book I was reading (The Know-It-All: One Man's Humble Quest to Become the Smartest Person in the World) and decided to give it a try. It seemed interesting and I wasn't disappointed.
