An interesting story with one of the characters based, in part, on a historical figure that could sense the mood of the Niagara Falls.

I was moved quite a few times in reading this book. I respected the strength and character Bess showed several times throughout the progression of the story, and - like Bess, I also fell in love with Tom.

A worthwhile read, and an interesting perspective on the effect of electricity companies upon the Falls and the whirlpools/river.
