I'm not in the best of moods for writing a review right now so, alas, this fine publication will get somewhat short shrift. I've been hearing about Unicorn Mountain as a local art publisher for yrs but it wasn't until I met Curt, the publisher, at the Visionary Arts Festival that I finally picked up this. It also wasn't until recently, at an Encyclopedia Destructica event, that I even realized that there's a comicbook maker scene in Pittsburgh. This book, printed in dark brown, represents this scene somewhat. I must admit to being somewhat 'spoiled' by the high standard set by RAW - as such, much of the drawing here doesn't impress me. Nonetheless, the overall quality of production is good & there's alotof work presented that I wd've never come across otherwise & am glad to've been able to familiarize myself w/. There's also a CD, wch is definitely a big plus. Most of the music is a bit too pop for my tastes but there being tracks from "vale and year" & Mike Tamburo certainly grabbed my interest. All in all, I'll be on the lookout for more from Unicorn Mountain & will support their future efforts.
