The positive: I love Robin McKinley. I love her. She writes beautiful stories about heartbreaking things. This book would be a good read if you enjoyed/gained meaning from Tender Morsels, as they're both examinations of sexual violence and misogyny.

The negative: I mean, "Donkeyskin" is an effed up fairytale anyway, so if the possibility of incest, rape, miscarriage, and abuse puts you off, do. not. read. this. It's dark and sad, all the time. Very few moments of lightness in this book. That's not a negative, but is something to consider.

The summary: Dark and amazing and full of power, like the best fantasy usually is.

Jacki This is the only one of her books I could not get into. Just too much prose, I think. I loves me some talking.
