Did I enjoy the book? Is this a book you're supposed to enjoy? It's a book that makes you think. The last chapter certainly makes you think. It made me think and I'm positive it will drag a tear or two out of some of you. This was a side of the war that I knew of but that was about it. Like The Diary of Anne Frank, Ian McEwan's Rose Blanche and the more recent The Boy in Striped Pyjamas this is a story worth telling. Although not marketed as a young adult novel I suspect this book is one that teenagers would get a lot from. I would have marked it higher but the bottom line is that it didn’t excite me. It wasn’t a chore to read but that’s me. Well researched and all that but not enough.

You can read my full review on my blog here. There’s also an interview with the author.
