it was ok
Read in September, 2009

The story follows a spice box as it is handed down through the years. At this time, it is in Paris, France at the beginning of the French Revolution. There are a couple of murders which seem unconnected along with allegations of the main character's mother stealing jewels from Versailles. The characters were hard to connect to or care about particularly. There was an overabundance of food description, but that would be expected as the author is a chef. I had figured out "whodunnit" before the book was half finished. All in all, it was just "ok". Not something to write home about.
