I may have to lay off Feehan for a while. Lately, I have been in a non-angsty kind of mood, so this didn't really work for me. The hero was...TOO intense, which is saying a lot because I generally find brooding men with scars (literally and figuratively) quite sexy. But Jake, not so much. And the sex scenes were painful to read. Painful, I tell you. I felt abused, degraded, and humiliated just for reading them.
And don't even get me started on Jake's parents. Those two made Joan Crawford look like June Cleaver. Why, oh why must Feehan go into such horrific detail regarding the abuse? IMHO, this a very unwelcome tend of late in the romance novels.
