My litcrit skills as applied to YA vampire romances are lacking, so I'm not sure what to say about this. I haven't read Twilight, but I have heard plenty, and this was definitely less egregiously awful. Still, I am not really sure what the point of it was. Like, the two main characters started out having run away from their school, and I guess one of the big plot points was why they did that, except that I didn't care. Rose (the narrator) is a fully realized character, but she's the only one; everyone else was just boring. Mostly it was a lot of gossip, backstabbing, high school shenanigans, brooding, and like an hour of vampire genetics that made me want to stake something. BUT it was excellent to listen to while knitting, and I am about to hit 'play' on the next one.
