Recommended for: read one of his earlier books instead

I think a lot of people get turned off to Nabokov, because they pick this one up, hoping it'll be steamy; and instead are treated to very long descriptions of what hotel rooms in the midwest look like.

Go with his earlier, more fanciful stuff instead. All of the following are rad: Invitation to A Beheading, The Eye, Bend Sinister, Despair.
