What a surprise this book was! I went into it expecting one thing and getting another - and it worked. It really, really worked. Set in the late 1970's, The Road To You is almost entirely mystery-focused, with twists and turns, coded clues, and all sorts of breadcrumb trails to follow.

There are romantic elements, but don't expect a love and smooch fest, because that's not what this book is about. While I wouldn't have minded more romance, the lack of hot-and-heavy action every other page or chapter didn't in any way detract from my overall enjoyment of the story itself. If anything, it made those romantic moments that much more powerful.

A thoughtful and well-written read, I enjoyed every page of The Road To You and would definitely recommend it.

4.5 stars.
