Skip the book and see the movie. Nora Ephron's touch was needed to tone down Julie Powell's whiny, foul-mouthed, self-depricating persona and to celebrate the life of Julia Child. I never could stand to listen to Julia's voice and when she was popular I was too busy cooking to watch shows about cooking, but Ephron, Amy Adams, and Meryl Streep show us a Julia and a Julie I might actually like to know.
