really liked it
bookshelves: in-2014

I really liked this book. The book was suspenseful and gritty and it pulled back into it every time. Most of the reviewers called it gothic, and I must agree 100% with that word, it was dark and edgy. River was evil, but just like Violet you couldn't help but like him. At times I found myself screaming at the book and myself for justifying River's evilish actions, but I think it just showcased a greater theme of humanity.

The characters, the story, the suspense, the pull of evil and good, throughout the book made me want to dive in the book more and more. I can't wait to read the second book Between the Spark and the Burn.
