it was amazing
bookshelves: mystery, copy-review, read-in-2009

A satisfying mystery in which an investigative journalist is asked to try to solve a decades-old murder. Set in Sweden, there's a subplot about industrial secrets and corporate misdeeds that is almost as interesting as the murder. Along the way the journalist teams up with a mysterious young woman hacker who is a great character.

I was a little uncomfortable with the way that every woman in the book wants to have sex with the protagonist - it would have been more interesting if one, in particular, didn't sleep with him. And the hacker's powers to find out anything and do anything are a little ridiculous, but what the hell, it's a great yarn.
