This was the first Koontz book that I've read (listened to) and there were a few things I struggled with. I wonder if it would have bothered me if I was actually reading the book rather than listening to it since I tend to glaze over annoying things and wasn't able to glaze while listening. I think if he could cut back on the embellishing statements I would have been able to give this a higher rating. Seriously if I had to hear how someone's eyes were like the autumn moon grown cold and luminescent one more time I may have screamed.

That being vented, I enjoyed the story. I was very surprised by the plot twist - and who doesn't love that! So it kept me going through the annoying alliterative run-ons. The ending could have been better but the book was definitely worth reading for the enjoyment of the plot twist. Or maybe I'm just an idiot and everyone else saw it coming!
