really liked it
bookshelves: 2009, historical-fiction

I was sorry to reach the end of this satisfying tale that reaches back through the generations and reveals a surprising secret. The characters are complex and with the exception of antagonists, likable. Details of environment serve to enrich characters rather than simply serve as a place for the action to play out. The Forgotten Garden, the anchor location for the story, ties the generations together through time. It's a memorable story, beautifully told.
