really liked it

Karl Drinkwater contacted me, asking to read his novel. This has never happened to me before and I was humbled by the request and felt honoured but vaguely stressed. What if I didn't enjoy it? Happily, this was not an issue. I enjoyed this book emensely. The main character, Alex, was odd but real. I thoroughly enjoyed his dysfunctional relationship with his family, especially the scene when he is at his family party. His relationship with his ex, Lucy, was sad but typical for a college affair. I found myself cheering for his relationship with Jane/Lucy and although I did not love the way this relationship ended, respectMr. Drinkwater tremendously for his bravery with this view into the themes of closure and moving on. I love novels which change perspectives throughout the story and he uses this format in a new and effective way. My one "too bad" comment is that I found the science excerpts a distraction. I am sure more scientific minds than mine will see the significance of these passages, but alas, this is not my forte. A solid, enjoyable read! Thank you, Karl, for allowing me this experience.

Karl Drinkwater Many thanks for the review, Lauri! I'm very grateful. Just be glad you're not a science geek - they have to compare the definitions to the chapter contents to work out the significance. :-)
