Gregory Maquire certainly likes to put a spin on the fairy tales we've come to love... Where I was completely gullible to his story of Oz, I kind of put up a block to this as Cinderella is my favorite fairy tale. I didn't want to "ruin" the classic, but I was curious how Maguire would spin it. Although I prefer the original, I still enjoyed this retelling.

In this story it is the step-sisters who are deprived and struggling just to make a better life. There is obviously still the hatred of the step-mother in this book, for me anyway. She's simply trying to take care of her daughters, but at what cost is that okay?
