This was the first SK novel I read; I was in middle school at the time. Parts of the novel have stayed with me since. The descriptions of pain and humility Carrie faced made me wonder what high school was going to be like; and I would be a liar if I said these thoughts didn't make me wish I was going to be home-schooled. King does an excellent job of fleshing the characters in this story from the wicked coven of high school girls, to the wicked and religious obsessed mother of Carrie, to Carrie herself.

Many have tried to replicate this storyline since, but King was the originator. The three stars are merely based on that fact that King has written better books since and only remnants of the novel are fresh in my mind.
