really liked it

Everything you think you know about what caused the Columbine massacre is wrong, and Dave Cullen's book sets the story straight. Fascinating reading, particularly the sections that describe psychopathic pathology. I'm incredibly interested in human psychology, but the last time I read about psycho/sociopaths there hadn't been any neuroscience to back up the claims that people afflicted with it simply operate on a completely different level than what we consider "normal". In one passage, a scientist's findings get rejected by a leading medical journal because he is told that there was no way the brain scans he submitted came from a human being--*that* is how differently psychopaths are wired. The saddest thing about reading this, besides thinking of the lives lost, is that there really was no reason for what happened other than a psychopath met a depressive and their relationship kindled a hatred that ended in mass murder. There is no easy 'why' and probably no real means of prevention, which makes for an unsettling read.
