it was amazing
bookshelves: mainstream, read_2009

This is a book that I started many years ago but somehow never went beyond 100 pages until reading the superb Father of Locks put me in the mood of another Islamic themed novel; I would rate it though only 4 1/2 stars because it is too scattered; narrated as a yearly account by the title hero from birth to age 40 as written for his young son, the books has about 150 brilliant pages but then it crams too much into too little space; still a great and fast read but it would have benefited of more pages per year, especially in the second half
