Jessica Shirvington - you are a genius. The writing in this book is perfection with just the right amount of action and romance and heartbreak and TONS of emotions! This is a dream come true for me, the emotionally attached reader. The last half of the book was particularly emotional - I couldn't read one page without starting to cry, yell in frustration, or laugh with joy! The life Ms. Shirvington injects into her books/writing is breathtaking.
What can I say, the plot line was spot on. There were all kinds of twists and turns that I never expected. This book is far from predictable. I couldn't put it down. I really don't like spoiler reviews so I'll put it this way: you can't read two chapters without becoming obsessed with what comes next.
The characters! The sparks between Violet and Lincoln were undeniable and the way they handled their attraction toward each other was so realistic. I'm gushing I know. The perfection of the book is oozing into me! Griffin's need to protect his circle of Grigori was absolutely adorable (I mean that in the manliest sense possible :D). Steph was as supportive as ever and is handling everything well considering how she was thrown into this mess. I loved how Violet first hated her mom and everything she represented but she learned to love her at the end. Violet and her dad's relationship is finally graduating past the stages of 'really? He's your dad?'
When I read the end, I was heartbroken but I also realized the necessity of what Violet had to do. I was happily surprised to find that this is not the last book and I get one more book of Violet and Lincoln and Phoenix and every other character that I love so dearly. The last book should wrap everything up nicely and tie up a whole bunch of loose ends flapping around!
This book deserves more than five stars. I'll give it a rainbow sticker too!!

“It's too late!" I cried
"I thought that once, too. But it's never too late. You taught me that. Love can make us eternal.” Phoenix’s eyes closed, haunted to the end. “I'm sorry,” were his last words.
"I forgive you,” I sobbed, gripping onto him desperately. “I forgive you.”
It was too late.
All. Too. Late.”

“He was my partner, my soulmate. As my body started to weaken, he wrapped his arms around me, supporting me. He kept his focus until the last of the senses had floated from me to him and then, when it was just us, the kiss lingered as we stole a few extra seconds. We both knew it was wrong – but letting go seemed impossible..”
