A good but not quite great mystery. In Seasons of Death Wren showed incredible abilities at building a location in the readers minds and characterizing colorful, real-feeling characters. The mystery end of things was a little weaker than the storytelling itself. I myself had (successfully) identified the murderer in less than sixty pages. I still enjoyed the book; the ego trip of picking the correct suspect early made up for the predictable nature of the unsolved murder, at least for me.
