** spoiler alert ** This was an enjoyable book to read--simply written in loose prose, it gives the reader an important life lesson without being preachy or condescending. What Henry David Thoreau is to life, Morrie Schwartz is to death and he teaches the reader, through Mitch Albom, what it really means to be alive. Though a man dying a slow, torturous death, he displays compassion and generativity towards his friends and family when most would be bitter and stagnant.
Perhaps not all that it is hyped to be, it is still definitely worth the read.
