I suppose I probably would have rated it a bit higher if I were English because it is a story of the Queen.

She discovers reading as a way of opening doors and seeing the world without actually having to go out. Reading becomes an all encompassing hobby which everyone else around her learns to loathe. It eventually leads her to writing on her own.

I suppose that's why any writer writes; they've read so much that they discover they also have something they would like to write down.
