This was an easy read -- although not what I'd describe as "light". In fact, it was an awful lot darker than I usually like my crime fiction.

Specifically, it deals with sexual abuse, abduction, and rape -- as well as murder. It was much more intense in those aspects than I expected, and there were times when I really had to stop and consider whether I wanted to keep reading.

(I did.)

The characters are interesting, if a little predictable and two-dimensional, and the plot is tense enough that any holes or coincidences are easily brushed over. I picked the murderer about halfway through the book, though, and from that point on I was just reading to see if I was right.

(I was.)

Overall, this is a quick and easy read for crime lovers. I'd certainly read more Sandra Brown after this exposure to her style. But it is, in the end, only as memorable as an episode of Law and Order: SVU.
