really liked it

At first glance, this book seems a bit formulaic - long-lost love returns (to apologize?) and heroine must decide what to do! But Lipman does a wonderful job of keeping me guessing as the path of the novel strays here, there and everywhere except the path I expected. Sometimes it's a bit contrived, but mostly it's entertaining, realistic, and enjoyable. Some of the characters (those perhaps Lipman deems unsympathetic) are drawn stereotypically, which detracts a bit from the fun of the main plot and some of the subplots, but overall it's an enjoyable and quick read.
