really liked it

The most successful Sci-Fi story I've read to cover such a broad idea as a multi-species galaxy and the wierd ways these species interact. The book's strength and weakness lies in its focus on the three main characters and their interactions with aliens. The strength is in the vivid and detailed imagining of these interactions and in the different ways intelligent life could arise in a galaxy. The weakness is the fact that these aliens do not react in a way that fits our own understanding of how we'd react can also be judged as a strength, depending on your view.
