really liked it

Indiscretion is even more entertaining than An Accomplished Woman, both excellent Regency romances with more than a nod to Jane Austen. Definitely more satiric than Heyer, Morgan deftly resolves the dilemma of an impoverished gentlewoman - who was not so gently brought up by her soldier father - by first turning her into a paid companion and then reuniting her with her late mother's estranged sister. One of the book's highlights is a scene in which the heroine Caroline, expecting a proposal, must answer instead a proposal to become the mistress of the gentleman the reader had hoped would become the hero. Clever twists like these make for a sparkling read.
