really liked it

When a well-known cricket player is killed in a housefire at a friend's cottage, Lynley and Havers are called in to coordinate the investigation as multiple area police are involved. It's not certain that the rson was meant as a murder attempt at the player since there were only a few people who knew the player would be there that weekend. The cottage was loaned to the wife of a millionaire businessman and the fire may have been an attempt on her life.
Elizabeth George's Lynley mysteries predictably deliver a good whodunit with lots of drama and a great substory saga on the lives of the continuing characters.
