really liked it

Mistborn seems a typical story of a peasant uprising and rebellion, but Sanderson has infused his story with some unique elements. Although I found his characters a little flat, some of them eventually fleshed out enough to make me care about the conclusion of the story.

The magic systems, Allomancy and Feruchemy, are a wonderful creation. As with Elantris, Brandon Sanderson has taken the traditional sword and scorcery novel and re-invented it.

The world created is also new and different, with a mythos all it's own. I was intrigued by the Terrismen and their history, and I think a prequel novel covering the original story of the lord ruler would be of great interest.

Despite my earlier misgivings I really liked this book. It's not perfect, there are some questions lingering - some hows and whys, and of course there are always some things a reader would like to see turn out a little differently.
