it was amazing
bookshelves: audiobooks, humor, odd

What a fun book! Winner of the 2010 Printz Award, and totally deserving of it, IMHO. It's hilarious and moving, ridiculous and important, all at the same time. Cameron is coasting along, barely working at his fast food job, when he starts experiencing some really weird hallucinations (Fire giants! Pink-haired punk girl angels!) and tremors and stuff. Turns out he has Creuzfeld-Jakob syndrome, or "Mad Cow Disease." Hoo boy! Then the fun begins--in the hospital, his angel Dulcie instructs him to go on a road trip to find the missing Dr. X, whose experiments with wormholes and parallel universes have unleashed a mess of trouble on the world. If Cameron can find the doctor, he can save the world and cure his disease, too. But he only has two weeks in which to do it. Will he be able to convince his hypochondriac video-game-obsessed dwarf roommate to come along as his sidekick? Will he vanquish the fire giants and free the snowglobes? What will he do when faced with a walking talking Viking lawn gnome? And what really is the meaning of life? You'll have to read it to find out!

Red I just finished reading the sample chapters (maybe first 20-30 pages)of this from Kindle and wasn't very impressed, it seemed kind of dull. I think we only went as far as see the dwarf for the first time. So I should definitely give it a longer test read?

Christina Yes, I think so! If you like wacky stories with heart. But maybe it's not for you, no big deal.

Christina I thought it just kept getting more and more goofy, and I liked that.

Well, sounds like I need to give it a little more of a chance, especially if you 5 starred it. I did like the comment in the foreward or maybe the acknowledgements (yes, I read those) where one of her friends just kept saying, "more gnome!" Will see if my Lib has a copy.

Christina and you have to see Libba's promo video for it: she wears a cow suit! :-)
