For its genre, a work of brilliance. Told from nine narrative points of view, the interwoven stories are compelling and the characters complex and fully developed. The ending kicks ass--one of the best finales I've read in a fantasy novel. Of course, it's not actually a finale but only a semi-conclusive cliffhanger to keep us in suspense until the next volume in this now 5-volume series.
