I really enjoyed this book. I found Ellen Kushner as an author by reading some short stories set in the same world in several "year's best fantasy" collections, and I liked the writing and the overt gayness. The book was as good as I hoped/expected it to be. The style takes a little bit of getting used to, but the world-building is subtle and the characters are fascinating. Good political fantasy full of intrigue and intricate networks of personal and family honor. I'll be looking for the next one.
